Viola comeback: Giorgio Puzzoli and Davide Atzeni secure first place for Fiorentina U20
Fiorentina played their third-to-last game of the season away against Atalanta, securing a precious comeback win following the victories by Parma and Cesena on Saturday.
The tempo of the match was high from the get-go, with both teams giving it their all to grab those three points.
Atalanta took the lead in the final minutes of the first half thanks to Nicolo Baldo’s left-footed effort from the edge of the box.
The Viola were able to respond in the second half, with Giorgio Puzzoli scoring the equalizer: Atalanta made a defensive mistake and Fiorentina’s number 10 took advantage of it, releasing a left-footed shot at the near post and beating Alessandro Anelli.
Toward the end of the game, Fiorentina secured the win with a brilliant individual effort by Carlo Evangelista, who beat the Atalanta defense and found Davide Atzeni in the box, who netted it in the bottom corner.
Fiorentina secured yet another win, grabbing three crucial points and climbing back up to first place and sending a strong message to their rivals.
Daniele Galloppa’s team will be back in action on 10 May, as they will face Cremonese at Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park.
