Women set for crunch clash with Inter

Fiorentina Women take on Inter in their second Serie A Women's Cup game on Saturday. The match is scheduled for a 18:00 CEST kick-off at the Arena Civica in Milan.

The Viola go into the encounter after defeating Como 2-0 in their Group B opener, while Inter beat Genoa 2-1. Since then the Nerazzurre have played a UEFA Women's Champions League qualifier, which they lost to Braan, meaning they drop down to the inaugural UEFA Women's Europa Cup.

Both sides will be looking for a win to all but secure their place in the Final Four of the Serie A Women's Cup.

Ahead of the game, Pablo Pinones-Arce shared his thoughts with our media team.

MOTIVATION

“I think we'll always have motivation and energy. In this sort of tournament and with the sort of games we have to play there'll always be a bit of tension. That said, we always prepare for every game respecting our opponent. Whether it's Como, Inter, Juve or whoever, we prepare the same way and the girls are doing that very well."

IMPROVEMENT

“We've identified several areas of our game where we can improve. Recently we've been working mostly on our mentality, in both attacking and defensive situations. We've started working more on organization too – for example not always closing down at every opportunity when defending, but adapting to the match too. In attack, we're looking for ways to create more goal-scoring opportunities."

INTER AND FITNESS

“Inter have played more games so they'll be a bit better prepared but we have to focus on ourselves. We need to think about what we want and where we want to be. We're ready and we're working well. Perhaps we haven't played enough yet but we're well prepared.”

SIGNINGS

“We have a very good squad. I had my say in bringing some of the players here. There's an excellent dialogue between me and the director. You never know what might happen in football but I'm very happy with the squad we have at the moment.”
