Fiorentina Primavera's dream of becoming Italian champions ended at the very last hurdle as they succumbed to an excellent Inter team in the final.

The first half was a cagey affair but Inter managed to take the lead through Leonardo Bovo after some miraculous goalkeeping by Pietro Leonardelli and a series of rebounds in the box.

Fiorentina had a couple of good opportunities to level the scores in the second half. First Tommaso Rubino hit the bar with a free kick then Luis Balbo was presented with a great chance after an Alessandro Calligaris save but the keeper bounced back up to deny him.

Inter made it 2-0 on the counter through Thomas Berenbruch from their first real chance of the second half, then with the Viola pushing for a way back in, Matteo Lavelli notched a late third - again on the counter - to completely kill the game off. 

Despite the bitter disappointment of losing the final, our U20s can be proud of an excellent campaign, which reaffirms the quality of the Fiorentina youth academy.
