The Italian women’s national team have chosen Florence as the venue for the second leg of their World Cup Playoffs.
The Stadio Artemio Franchi will host their match against Belarus, scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, at 18:15 CEST (the first leg will be four days before and the venue has yet to be announced).
This will be the fourth time the Italian women’s team plays at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, where they have written some unforgettable chapters of women’s football: their 1-1 draw against England in 1995 in Florence was followed by their 3-0 victory over Portugal in 2018 and 12-0 win over Israel in 2021, thanks to which they qualified for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup and the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 respectively.
If they win against Belarus, which is currently 52nd in the FIFA ranking (Italy is 13th), the team’s journey to Brazil under coach Andrea Soncin will continue with a double header against Finland – a team they already encountered in the EURO 2025 Qualifiers – or Serbia, which they beat twice at the start of the year in the Group Stage of the World Cup Qualifiers. The games of the second round of the playoffs will take place between December 1 and 5, with the Azzurre once again playing in front of their fans.
We look forward to seeing you in Florence, Azzurre! 💜🩵
