Fiorentina coach was interviewed after his side claimed a 1-0 win over Lecce on Friday night. Here’s some of what our boss had to say:

“Obviously this was a big game, as is every match we play. We performed well and we deserved to win. We kept things simple, as you should do when you’re in a tough spot. We used a new system and it wasn’t easy to incorporate this in a short space of time – the lads did fantastically in this regard. It’s proof that they’re alert, focused on everything and trying to do what’s asked of them.

“We created many chances and it’s a shame we didn’t score more. We were so keen to win. The lads needed to win to put smiles back on their faces which were lacking in the last three games.

“The players executed to perfection what I asked of them. The lads are on the same page and do everything to make this club better.

“Nicolo Fagioli only came on the second half because I had other ideas. He came on and did well. He’s improving. Our aim is to get back to 100% the players who aren’t quite there yet.

“I understand the fans’ reaction – we could’ve done better in the second half. We need the fans on our side.”
