Ternana and Fiorentina played out a thrilling match at the Gubbiotti, with both sides sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

The home team, still battling to avoid relegation, took a two-goal lead after only 12 minutes. The first dramatic turn of events came after three minutes when Valeria Pirone earned and converted a penalty for the hosts. Shortly after Alice Regazzoli took advantage of a loose ball in the box to double Ternana’s lead, sending the fans into raptures.

It took the visitors a while to regain their composure, but Agnese Bonfantini, who led the charge for her side, soon tested Ternana’s keeper Katja Schroffenegger. Just before the half time interval it was Maya Cherubini who managed to reduce the deficit, scoring her first ever Serie A Women goal for Fiorentina, a historic achievement for the young prospect.

Fiorentina upped the ante even further in the second half, pinning their opponents back in their own half. The pressure eventually told, and Maria Filangeri nodded in the equaliser from a corner.

Both sides then gave their all to try and snatch a winner, but to no avail. It was a vital point for the home team, with Fiorentina heading away somewhat disappointed. The Viola dropped big points in the race for the Champions League but still remain in contention.
