As the Fiorentina Women’s team take their official squad photo, Alice Tortelli prepares for yet another season at Fiorentina, with both new and seasoned players in the squad. The team’s first target is Napoli: their new season will start on October 4 with an away match in Naples.

You’ve been here for many years. What’s the atmosphere like this year?

“I’ve been playing here for many years. There’s a good atmosphere. We’re eager to do well and improve. There have been many adjustments and changes; there’s a nice atmosphere.”

There are many veterans and new players in the dressing room this year. How are you getting along?

“We’re getting on well. This year in particular, we have many players from other countries and the Italian players who have been at Fiorentina for many years are trying to create a group that is as close-knit as possible. This includes helping everyone integrate well.”

Your season will start with an away match against Napoli. This one will be more competitive. What kind of season do you expect?

“There will sometimes be some unexpected results. As we saw in our last competition, we won’t know who will win until the very end. Therefore, it will be a very competitive season.”

The Serie A Women’s Cup didn’t go your way, but there are many competitions ahead. Do you think this is the right season for Fiorentina to lift a trophy?

“Definitely. It’s the right season to win something. We have to get to know one another. It’s a new project, so we’ll need some time. However, I’m confident that we will do well.”
