Viola Women pick up previous point at Roma

Fiorentina Women battled to a well-deserved draw at league leaders Roma on Sunday.

The Viola took the lead shortly before the break when Hlin Eiriksdottir played an inch-perfect through ball for Emma Lombardi, whose low delivery allowed Madelen Janogy to turn in from close range.

The home side came out reinvigorated after the restart but Pablo Pinones Arce's side held firm until the 77th minute, when Giulia Galli rose highest to head in the equalizer from a corner.

Roma went looking for the winner but some stoic defending by Ilse van der Zanden and superb reflexes by Cecilie Fiskerstrand, who pulled off a crucial save deep into stoppage time, saw the Viola hold onto the point.

Fiorentina Women will next be in action against Parma on March 22, with kick-off at Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park scheduled for 12:30.
