Women aim for top spot in Parma

Fiorentina are facing Parma tomorrow at 15:00 CET. Following a resounding 5-2 win over Roma the girls will once again be keen to get another three points on the board, continuing their good form and hoping to leapfrog the Giallorosse in the league. Here’s what coach Pablo Pinones-Arce had to say a day ahead of the game:

“I think we’re in good position, but thinking about whether we’re favourites or not isn’t our place. Our job is to focus on preparing well for games, regardless of who we’re up against. We’re doing well and we’re enjoying a good spell.

“Parma are keen to play good football. They’re not afraid to try and dominate play. They’re pretty quick in attack, as well. They’ve been pressing higher in recent games. I think that Parma, based on what I’ve seen, could’ve picked up more points by now. They’re a pretty good team.

“I think we’re on the right track. We focus on what we need to do every day and in any given week. The girls are responding well to our work plan. I think that’s been exemplified by where we’re at right now. It’s not my job to obsess over the league table – others can do that.

“We played really well against Roma in every regard. That being said, we’ve got to keep on looking at what we can do to improve, whether we achieved all of our objectives for that game, where we went wrong and if we can do more. We always need to approach games in the right way and work hard every day to develop ourselves, and have the belief to always try and play our game.”
