Fiorentina Femminile got off to the best possible start in this season’s Coppa Italia, thrashing
Genoa 7-1 away from home. The Viola picked up a crucial three points ahead of their clash with
Verona, which will determine who reaches the next round.

The away side roared into a 4-0 lead by half time, with both Veronica Boquete and Miriam Longo
netting two goals apiece. Sarah Huchet then continued the rout after the break, scoring twice
before the hour mark. Genoa’s Giada Abate grabbed a consolation goal for the hosts before
Margherita Monnecchi rounded off the match by making it 7-1.

Next up for Fiorentina is Inter later in November, wrapping up the first half of Serie A 2022/23.
