Polissya 0-3 Fiorentina match report

Fiorentina claimed a 3-0 away win over Polissya Zhytomyr in their Conference League play-off first leg.

The Viola broke the deadlock after eight minutes of play when Moise Kean’s shot from outside of the box was parried by Oleh Kudryk, only for the ball to hit the post and rebound off the keeper into the net.

David de Gea then pulled off a miraculous save from Ruslan Babenko’s headed effort before the Viola doubled their lead through Robin Gosens’ powerful left-footed shot.

Kean was sent off for elbowing Eduard Sarapiy just before the break, leaving Fiorentina with ten men.

No changes were made at the start of the second half for either team. Polissya attempted to get at the visitors, but Fiorentina held off the Ukrainian side’s pressure.

Albert Gudmundsson made it 3-0 with 20 minutes to play before being subbed off for Edin Dzeko, who made his competitive debut for the Viola.

Fiorentina held onto their lead and will go into the second leg next Thursday with a chance to secure qualification for the Conference League.
