Pisa 0-0 Fiorentina: the Tuscan derby ends in a draw

Fiorentina face Pisa on matchday five of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive at the Arena Garibaldi. The visitors’ rivals are coached by an old Fiorentina acquaintance: Alberto Gilardino. Albert Gudmundsson is once again part of the starting XI and plays next to Moise Kean, while Hans Nicolussi Caviglia is put in charge of the midfield. There is also a change in defense compared to the team’s previous match against Como, as Pietro Comuzzo is replaced with Pablo Mari. Pisa opt for the same set-up, with former Fiorentina player M'Bala Nzola forward together with Matteo Tramoni. Antonio Caracciolo and Simone Canestrelli are in charge of the defense. Toure is back in midfield after skipping last week’s match for the birth of his child.

The hosts earn the first corner kick, with Tramoni taking the shot: Nzola gets served and his header sends it narrowly wide.

The first major chance for Fiorentina comes with Kean, who takes the initiative and takes a shot that ends just wide.

The biggest chance comes at minute 13 with Nzola’s header, which hits the crossbar after a great solo by Ebenezer Akinsanmiro: Fiorentina come close to conceding.

Fiorentina get another chance at minute 22 with a one-two between Jacopo Fazzini and Dodo: the Brazilian player breaks away, takes his shot, which barely misses the target.

The first 30 minutes are very intense: major chances for both teams, but none of the two have managed to score. Fiorentina earns a corner kick, too, with Caviglia playing a one-two with Fazzini. The ball rolls back to Rolando Mandragora, but he fires it well over the bar.

At minute 44, Kean seizes the ball following a misplaced clearance by Touré, and, after carrying it forward, gets a shot off, but it lacks power.

The first half ends goalless: the match is breathtaking. We’ll see if one of the two teams manages to score in the second half of the match.

The second half begins without any substitutions by the two teams, but Michel Aebischer is immediately forced to leave the pitch due to an injury, with Malthe Hojholt being subbed in. At minute 55 Mehdi Leris is served perfectly on the left but is off balance and misses the target. These first 15 minutes of the second half are very similar to the entire first half: a lot of intensity, good chances but still no goals. At minute 67 Pisa make three substitutions: Juan Cuadrado on for Leris, Henrik Meister for Nzola and Isak Vural for Marius Marin. Soon afterwards, coach Stefano Pioli sends on Roberto Piccoli for Gudmundsson. At minute 79 Simon Sohm is sent on for Nicolussi. Cuadrado immediately creates an opportunity as he moves past a player on the left, takes a shot but hits the right goalpost of the Spanish goalkeeper.

Toward the end of the match, both teams make substitutions: Stefano Moreo and Edin Dzeko are subbed on for Tramoni and Fazzini respectively: now Fiorentina have three strikers on the pitch. At minute 92 Kean gets the chance to score, but after two steps in the box, he takes a left-footed shot that goes high.

The Tuscan derby ends in a draw and goalless: this very intense match ends 0-0.
