Fiorentina defeat Sigma 2-0 to record first Conference League win

Fiorentina got their Conference League campaign up and running with a convincing 2-0 triumph over Sigma Olomouc.

Roberto Piccoli broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when he ran onto Cher Ndour's headed pass and slotted calmly past the onrushing keeper – his first goal for the club and his first ever in Europe.

The Viola had several chance before the break – most notably when Luca Ranieri's cross-shot hit the bar – but were unable to double their lead.

The scoreline remained unchanged until Ndour grabbed a second deep into injury time: Albert Gudmundsson laid off for the midfielder, who took a touch before crashing his shot in via the post from outside the box.

Stefano Pioli's men thus get their first three European points on the board and now turn their attentions to Sunday's Serie A clash with Roma.
