Fiorentina and Inter played out an entertaining but ultimately goalless contest on Sunday at the Stadio Torrini, with both sides deservedly walking away with a point. 

The hosts' task was made tougher by the loss of Sarah Huchet to injury after about 20 minutes of a cagey first period. After hurting herself when making a challenge to thwart a counterattack, she was replaced by Alexandra Johannsdottir.

While tactics won out over spectacle for most of the first half, the match sprang into life in the 37th minute, when Margherita Monnecchi almost put the home team ahead, firing just over from Milica Mijatovic's ball in. 

Inter meanwhile spurned an outstanding chance on 40 minutes. Elisa Polli headed a corner against the bar before firing the rebound towards an open goal, only for Alice Parisi to make a crucial block on the goal line. Ghoutia Karchouni also hit the woodwork before the interval for Inter. 

In the second half, the Viola's best opportunity to break the deadlock came with just over 20 minutes to play. First Johannsdotti headed Veronica Boquete's cross against the bar, before Mijatovic fired the rebound straight at Francesca Durante. The ball then broke kindly to Johannsdotti, but she shot over the bar from close range. 

Patrizia Panico's side had to settle for a draw and their attention now turns to next weekend when they host Inter's crosstown rivals Milan.
