Cincotta previews Inter clash

23 January 2021

Antonio Cincotta has praised the way his Fiorentina squad have reacted to the long absentee list at the club as they prepare to face Inter on Sunday.

“Unfortunately we don’t have any of the unavailable players back, but that’s no excuse,” said the Viola boss ahead of the game. “We will carry on with the squad we have available – I’m pleased with how the girls are training. It’s allowing us to develop several young players from the Primavera squad.”

Fiorentina go into the game in fifth place, having beaten San Marino Academy last time out, whereas Inter were beaten 3-0 by Juventus in their last match. The game will also see former Fiorentina player Ilaria Mauro face her old team, while Katja Schroffenegger returns to Inter.

“I have great respect for Ilaria Mauro for what she achieved with us,” said Cincotta. “It makes it harder because we’re short on numbers and would struggle to deal with any more absentees. Having said that, we’re coming off the back of a positive run, with two wins in our last three, and we’ll try to do our best in Milan.”
