New Fiorentina signing Lucas Martinez Quarta was unveiled to the press, presenting himself to his new fans. The centre-back joined from River Plate in the summer transfer window, and was adamant he is ready to face this new challenge.

ON THE TRANSFER - “The last weekend was really crazy, but thank God we did it and I'm grateful to everyone who worked to finalise the deal,” he said. "Now I am here and I hope I can do important things and repay the trust I have been given and the possibility of playing in Europe".

ON ITALIAN FOOTBALL - "For me it is a new and different type of football. I feel ready, otherwise I would not be here and only time will tell if I need a period of adaptation. I feel good, ready to play. I only spoke once with [Javier] Zanetti and I have not had any other contact with him, obviously I am grateful for the words he spent for me. Obviously he was a great player with a fantastic career and the fact that he said those things about me makes me proud. I had the opportunity to talk about Italian football with all my team-mates from Argentina and, when I arrived, I was able to have the confirmation of what they told me: it is a very tactical kind football."

ON PASSARELLA AND OTHER ARGENTINE DEFENDERS  - "I don't like being compared to Passarella, Gonzalo or Pezzella. They are three great players and each of them has made a name for themselves in this team. I'm Martinez Quarta and I want to make a name for myself here."

ON RIVALRIES - "Germán [Pezzella] told me about the rivalries here, especially with Juventus. I saw the official club channels celebrated an important anniversary recently [, the win back in 2013]. It will be great to face big sides like Juventus and players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku or Zlatan Ibrahimovic".

ON HIS STRENGTHS - "I don't like talking about my strengths. Obviously, all players must always improve. I think I'm a technical player and I want to keep improving in every possible aspect: marking, headers, technique ... I think it's important to continue improving and growing. I feel ready, I feel good."
