Rocco Commisso: "Investing in Fiorentina's future"

29 March 2023

Rocco Commisso spoke about Fiorentina and Viola Park during an acceptance speech at a John Cabot University award ceremony in New York.

His speech was preceded by a video looking back at the key stages of his life, his studies, his career and his investments – through to his love for football and Italy.

This is what the president had to say...

“Fiorentina has a rich 97-year history on the soccer field but the club never owned anything in the city of Florence. The money we are investing in projects like our new training center Viola Park is creating jobs and infrastructure that will stand the test of time and be left in the city of Florence. Not only will it be one of the largest training centers in Europe, Viola Park will also be incredibly unique in that it will house the men's team, the women's team, the youth teams and all our staff in the city of Florence. By the time Viola Park is completed this summer, we will have spent over 440 million dollars to buy and operate the club and to build Viola Park.

"Italy is such a culturally rich nation, from the architecture, to the arts, the climate, and the world-renowned food and wine – in my humble opinion, there's no place on earth like Italy. I am so proud to be honored by an institution like John Cabot University to connect new generations – of mostly American students - with the beauty and significance of Italian culture and history.”
